This spell allows the recipient to cast spells that normally require a somatic component without having to move. Such spells must be cast entirely within the duration of the Stilled Casting spell. This spell has no effect on other kinds of movement or impediments to movement; it simply removes the need for a spell's somatic component. Spells without somatic components are not affected.
This spell is of great use when a caster is grappled or bound, but not when the caster is magically held or paralyzed (these prevent speech as well). The Stilled Casting spell does not negate paralysis or being magically held, it merely allows the caster to cast spells without somatic components.
A spell that effectively has no components, such as a V spell cast under Vocalize or a V, S spell that is being cast under both Vocalize and Stilled Casting becomes a purely mental action to cast, but the casting time does not change.
